Civic Center (Renovation)
800m2 +Landscape
An public architectural competition to renovate a closed kindergarten to civic center in Kyonan Town, located in Boso peninsula, Chiba prefecture,
Participated as a joint venture with Toki Architects and Komuro Shimotukasa Architects, and shortlisted to finalist, but, did not go further.
We proposed installing large roof made of CLT(Cross Laminated Timber) along the existing building so that programs inside of the building can extend to the space under the roof, and placing “Giant Slope” with a gentle slope in the center of the landscape.
CLT pillars can be used in various ways depending on the idea of the town people, such as climbing wall, outdoor athletics and exhibition wall. Also, gentle slope at the Giant Slope stimulates the visitor’s imagination and make it more enjoyable..
